116 Tikirific Condoms and Hawaiian VOG

Pumpkin can't keep her mind out of the gutter.  This week she is obsessed with vegan condoms, so good you could eat them.  But before you go eating condoms, try this weeks cocktail.  The Cuba Libre was a favorite drink of American author Jean Stafford.  A drunks drink if ever there was one.  Next is some Zen conversation about keeping things simple and elegant, with tiki style.  Sunshine thinks the lowly sugar cube may have a comeback and also wants to know which of his neighbors donated to the "yes on 8" proposition.  Nothing wrong with that.  All of us here at the Zen Tiki Lounge want to shout to Kava Kon, one of our favorite exotica artists.  Listen to Kava Kon here.  Enjoy the show.

115 The Star Trek Doggy Door

You know that you have nothing to complain about when all you can complain about is the need for an automatic doggy door.  Pumpkin spends SO MUCH TIME letting the pooch out in the yard she feels she needs an auto door for doggy.  Really?  That may not sound all that interesting to most people, so we toss back a few cocktails for some intoximicating fun.  Our drink is called The Isle of Lime and is inspired by Sunshines new love of 10 Can Rum.  Delicioso!  Be sure not to substitute another rum, it just doesn't work.  After the drink comes drunken racist comments and cross dressing Asian ladies who write books about saving the planet.  Don't miss that.  We conclude with Pumpkins latest rant on vanity license plates and those people who put dead loved ones on the back of their cars.  Nice. 114 Visiting Jamaica with Coruba Rum

Aloha Tiki Friends!  It's been a looong week for all of us here in the Zen Tiki Lounge.  A cocktail or two, or three was certainly sounding good.  We start with a great Mai Tai, direct from the Foundation Tiki bar in Milwaukee.  To make this you will need to track some Coruba Jamaican rum.  Finding some rock candy syrup is a good idea as well, but simple syrup works in a pinch.  Not long after we started sipping this stiff libation the conversation quickly turned to breast feeding, anal insertions, taxes for gays, the magic bullet blender, and for good measure we threw in a little Jesus.  Starshine certinaly kept things lively.  Enjoy!  Be sure to visit the official site for the Foundation Tiki Bar.

113 Dr. Funk visits the Zen Tiki Lounge

The name of the game is GET PUMPKIN DRUNK!  We only do this to make our listeners happy.  Email after email asks for more smashed Pumpkin.  So, 1 shooter, 1 strong ass cocktail and a couple slices of rum cake.  That'll do her.  After the demon rum starts coursing through her veins, her conversation goes south of the bikini.  Pumpkin offers her 12 steps to a cheaper 2009.  Free booze is good.  Bar supplies on the cheap, we tell you how.  Need to make some extra cash?  Sell your stomach.  All in this episode.  Sunshine takes us back on course with Elvis Bday trivia and Mrs. Kravitz shenanigans.  Our official drink of the week is the classic Dr. Funk.  A refreshingly odd little drink.  But damn good.  There so much more but we honestly forgot to take notes, just listen and drink along.

This Weeks Drink: Dr. Funk

1.5 oz Dark rum

.25 oz Pastis or Absinthe

.5 oz lemon juice

.5 oz grenadine

1 oz lime juice (fresh squeezed)

Shake, shake, shake.  Just pour into a tall glass filled with crushed ice.  A long straw is perfect for Dr. Funk.  Garnish with lemon wedge on rim and three or four cherries, olives or a combo of both.  Funky!

112 Vegan Condoms, Cocktails and WAMU SUCKS!

Happy New Year Tiki Friends!!!  Both Sunshine and Pumpkin are excited to be starting another year of podcasting here in the Zen Tiki Lounge.  We certainly don't waste anytime, the cocktails are flowing, conversation running and shenanigans continues.  Our cocktail is straight from Sunshines fridge, specifically the leftover ingredients from all the holiday parties.  A little passion fruit juice, some pineapple, Appleton rum, Ten Cane rum...throw in some bitters and a dash of lemon.  Impressive for leftovers.  I call it "California Passion Cocktail."  Part of the inspiration comes from our weather.  While many of our listeners are burried in snow, we are enjoying some fairly decent temps here in Sunny So Cal.  Pumpkin delves into the naughty subjects as always, vegan condoms in a cookbook?  Yep.  Penis enlargement?  You bet.  Lets not forget the roll play we do to show you just how bad the customer service is at Washington Mutual.  WAMU has closed Sunshines account, can't figure out how or why and doesn't really seem to care about helping to reopen it.  Thats wonderful.  Enough reason to drink.

111 Everyone wants Tiki for Xmas

Aloha and Merry Christmas.  Thats the general theme of our show this week, our last podcast before we sail on past the busiest holiday of the year and set course for the new year.  Both Sunshine and Pumpkin share some thoughts on great things you can do or buy for that special someone.  But, most importantly we have finally launched the Zen Tiki Store.  Need exotica for your music collection?  We got it.   Maybe some good reading about your favorite subject, RUM.  We have the covered also.  Bar trinkets, mugs, party goods etc.  Check out the store and shop knowing that each purchase helps us get that much closer to the tiki bar of our dreams and an upgraded podcast for all of you.  We also discuss the usual rant and rave about sex changes, old people spraying fox urine on children, the new Trader Vic's in Chicago, custody battles for kitties and so much more.  The cocktail this week was a bit on the fierce side and Pumpkin got a little loopy.  So much the better.  Listen, drink, enjoy. Drink of the week: Glogg

Mix 1 part Glogg(found in specialty food stores, its a Scandanavian holiday beverage mix) with 1 part water.  2oz Glogg with 2oz water works well.  Heat mixture, but do not boil.  Pour into Irish coffee mug and add 1oz Rum or Vodka.  Makes a great holiday treat.

110 Tiki drinks make the holidays brighter!

Aloha Tiki Friends!  Pumpkin is out of the lounge this week, so Starshine dropped by for cocktails and shenanigans.  We both wanted a little bit of holiday cheer so the holiday tunes are playing and the stories are reminiscing.  To fully enjoy the moment I whipped up both a hot cocktail and a nice cordial for dessert.  Both are great for any of you holiday outings, mix some up for friends.  After her first drinky, Starshine got a little unprofessional and we wouldn't have it any other way.  Do you remember the Christmas sausage from way back, she asked?  Who wouldn't.  And what about drag queens robbing jewelry stores, cleansing your colon, jogging off the celebratory calories and poking fun at the Brits for their version of what we call English.  Enjoy yourself with us.  We sure did. Drink of the Week: The cold killer

1 tsp honey, 1 peppermint tea bag, 2 Ricola coughdrops, 5 oz boiling water, 1 oz vanilla vodka

In an Irish coffee mug, pour in boiling water on top of coughdrops.  Brew tea bag for just one minute and remove.  Add honey, lemon and the vodka last.  Drink one or two of these to make most colds blow away.
