141 Tiki Oasis 9 Memories and Shenanigans

The entire Zen Tiki Lounge crew is back from Tiki Oasis 9, the biggest Tiki shindig this side of the moon.  Rather than write a term paper on all the fun we had, it would be far better if you listened to the show.  With audio clips of the concert, an interview with Duda Leite director of Tikimentary, cocktail recipes and much more.  Be sure to check out our facebook page to see all the great pictures and a video or two.  Click on any of these links to check out the great friends, vendors and misc stuff from the big event. 140 Tiki Oasis 9 or Bust!

This is our last podcast before we all head to Tiki Oasis 9 in San Diego.  Don't have your tickets yet?  Go to tikioasis.com ASAP and get yours.  Join the ZTL crew for a weekend of tiki drinks, great surf music and plenty of party.  Did we mention burlesque?  Steamy!  Sunshine gives listeners some good tips for finding those exotica tunes and saving some money at the same time, check out eMusic.  Pumpkin tells us all about her recent trip to stripper class, it wasn't as easy as she thought.  Sore thighs and a few other parts prove that strippers deserve your respect.  We also dive into the homeopathy controversy, useful or total crock of S*&#?  Listen to find out.  No show would be be complete without something totally useless, thats why Pumpkin rants about the more than numerous different colored ribbons out there.  Would you like to make more people aware of or colon cancer?  Great!  There is a ribbon for that.  Tune in and enjoy the tunes, drinks and chit chat.  See ya all at Tiki Oasis.

139 A Spoonful of Tiki Makes the Politics go Down

Lets face it, a good stiff drink makes it easier for even the most uptight person to discuss politics.  Sunshine and Kalani certainly don't need a cocktail for conversation about the subjects like "don't ask, don't tell" or gay marriage.  This episode is not all serious matters, we also discuss how helpful a good dose of ginger can be, both in your drink and to curb many ailments.  Mint is another great herb our cocktails can't do without.  And we have plenty of listener mail and comments as well.  Enjoy!

138 Ginger Cures Everything. Drink Up!

Our cocktail takes across the pond this week.  Pimm's Cup is a classic British cocktail that no Wimbledon would be complete without.  Luckily here in the states we can easily get our hands on Pimm's No1 without much trouble.  This light on alcohol drink allows Sunshine and Pumpkin to converse with a little more coherence this week.  Have you ever wondered how meat eaters are killing the planet?  Pumpkin has details.  Maybe you thought that alcohol was a cure all, but the supreme master being tells a different story.  You must visit the website of this total nut job, over the top crazy lady.  Maybe you will laugh, maybe you will change your life forever.  As long as you continue listening to our podcast we really don't care.  Sunshine ends things with a visit from Dr. Bruce, our relaxation specialist and a rant about Joe Jackson....the A-hole child abusing, family manipulating, drunk ass, sorry excuse for a human being that he is.  Can you blame me?  And lets not forget our first of two parts on the wonders of Ginger and how it relates to our favorite tiki cocktails.  Yummy.

137 The Mini Bar Party with Michael Jackson

137 The Mini Bar Party with Michael Jackson

This episode was originally recorded 7/4/2009. Our views and comments about Michael Jackson are somewhat different a decade later. Sunshine and Starshine in the lounge this week.  After some fairly painful dental work Sunshine is a bit under the influence of numbing agents so our drink this week is not the usual poison.  Using Beachbum Berry's iPhone app we find a great coffee cocktail called Otto's Grotto.  Try this one after dinner, with dessert etc.  Our subjects this week range from the west coast to the east.

136 Its a Vegan 4th of July in Tiki Style

After many many emails from our listeners we knew it was time to do a show on Vegan foods/party ideas.  Now and then Pumpkin brings us a little tid bit about the vegan lifestyle but we thought doing a completely vegan BBQ for Independance Day would be fun for all.  Sunshine naturally gives some vegan cocktail ideas (not to hard since almost all cocktails are vegan).  If you are new to the vegan lifestyle you will need a few cook books and a lifeline.  We recommend the following books: Garden of Vegan, Vegan a Go-Go!: A cookbook and survival manual for vegans on the go, Go Dairy Free: The guide and cookbook for milk allergies, lactose intolerance and casein-free living, Students Vegetarian Cookbook. Revised: Quick, Easy, Cheap and Tasty Vegetarian Recipes. For that vegan cocktail you don't have to look far, but here are Sunshines favorite Cocktail Bibles.  For those of you who just tune in for the shenanigans you won't be disappointed. Pumpkin gets a little smashed and we have a great time in the lounge as usual.

135 Not Enough Tiki on iTunes

Sunshine and Pumpkin are back together in the Zen Tiki Lounge doing what they do best.  Cocktails, chit chat and shenanigans.  Pumpkin has just returned from New Zealand with some tales of her two week visit.  Not to mention she vents a little about the wild goose chase for New Zealand rums that don't exist.  We try more Rum Jumbie which is quickly becoming our favorite new rum based spirit, hard to find but worth it.  Sunshine helps out a listener with some tips for planting your own ginger garden.  Rather than read listener mail we decide to share our iTunes comments.  The good, bad and ugly.....all publicity is good publicity.  But to bring our overall iTunes reviews to better accuracy we ask all our listeners to do a review of their own.  Just be sure you have an iTunes log in and tell everyone in podcast land what you think about the show.
