301 Earthquake On The Pineapple Express

The Pineapple Express was just removed from the cocktail list at BOND Bar at the Cosmopolitan.  But, we did our best to capture the recipe on this episode.

We admit that this episode departs a little from our usual conversation.  Sunshine has just returned from a fabulous weekend in Las Vegas and can't help but tell everyone about it.  One of the highlights of this trip was a visit to Bond Bar at Cosmopolitan.  It is difficult to find bartenders on the Vegas strip that will talk cocktail craft with you.  But, each of the three ladies and gents we met were more than happy to tell us about each ingredient and even give some tips on preparation.  Of note is the Pineapple Express cocktail, probably the most tiki drink on the menu.  To make this you will have to spend some time in the kitchen.  Sunshine whipped up two of the essential mixes needed for this and wasn't sorry.  Carmelized pineapple puree and fresh vanilla bean syrup are easy and wonderful in this drink and others.  We don't like to post recipes for "acquired" drinks, so listen to this episode for a pretty darn accurate account of how to make Pineapple Express.

While sitting at the bar in Vegas there was a round of earthquakes in LA.  Noticing that everyone cell phone in the bar started to light up, Sunshine finally asked somebody what was going on and to his surprise there was a rumbler back home.  Well, no deaths or injuries of note, so back to drinking.  Starshine shared that her mother was a little freaked out with all the shaking and wanted everyone to know she doesn't want to die naked in the shower.  Well, who would?  Right?

Now, how about our new mug?  Lil (Dick) Richard is born.  Our second tiki mug created by our friends at PopTiki of Colorado.  Lil Richard is a Ku tiki in our signature mid century modern orange and shows off our logo on his buttocks.  Made in the USA and Buying this mug supports the podcast.

Last but not least, we can't finish the show without a little info on the upcoming Tiki Caliente 6 event May 15-18, 2014 in Palm Springs.  The list of room parties is FULL, the band list is growing and the sun will be shining.  If you have not already bought a wristband or booked a hotel room  you will want to right away.  This is just about sold out and is limited to 600 attendees.
