The Polynesian dining experience and tiki bars were popular in Las Vegas just like any other American city of the 50's, 60's and 70's.  Don The Beachcomber at the Sahara was reason enough to visit A Place In The Sun.  And the Aku Aku at the Stardust was one of the most well known tiki palaces in the western United States.  And then.......the 1980's happened.  And for the most of three decades tiki was in severe decline.
