In June 2009, Sunshine and the husband took a road trip from the Hukilau down to the Florida Keys. While walking around on the second day, they came across the Rum Barrel. The server recommended Marooned as a sweet drink that was very popular with locals. Well, we had two each and have made hundreds since. Luckily the server wrote down the recipe.

But on this occasion Sunshine was well into a drunken conversation with another partygoer. Kalani wandered into the kitchen to make herself a beverage. She looked around and assessed what was available on the makeshift bar and tossed a few ingredients into a glass with ice. After a few sips she realized that she might be onto something. Her drink was passed around from lip to lip and sip to sip. What a wonderful holiday beverage she had created. This was the birth of Kalanis' Punani.
