Alooooha from the great white of Southern California. Sunshine, Pumpkin and Starshine are spending the weekend at the Zen Tiki Lodge in chilly Big Bear Lake, California. And boy is it cold. After shoveling through 7 feet of snow we made it to the bar and started mixing cocktails. Not long after that we hit record and sometimes you get what you get. Did you know the Bible makes a great cocktail coaster? Well, it does. We give a short recap on Obamas state of the union, what government agencies can you live without, yell at Meg Whitman the evil gay hating skank running for governor of California, and rant about who knows what. It was cold and we were drinking and not responsible for our behavior. A quick little update on the weather here at the Zen Tiki Lounge. Certainly nothing to complain about but it is easy to poke fun at our sensationalized local media. Holy Jesus….its raining. Run for the hills. Or in the case of Southern California, run away from the hills. Perhaps the climate in your part of the world is nicer. Have a drink, enjoy!

While enjoying a lovely rainy day here in the lounge, Sunshine and Pumpkin toast some cocktails and chat about the events of the past week. Our cocktail is the Blue Bayou. A simple and tasty vodka drink that pleases on a wet day. Add a little music from the dollar bin that Pumpkin found and we’re ready to talk. Pat Robertson the “hates everyone but himself asshole” has been spouting off again. This time he decries that Haiti made a pact with the devil and therefor deserves destruction. Really??? Aloha and welcome to 2010. Lets just forget about that dirty old 2009 and move on. So many new cocktails, classics as well. And, plenty of shenanigans. We promised to bring you 30% more breasts in this years show so we start out with a visit from Annabelle of the newly launched GASH Show on youtube. Sunshine and Pumpkin stop by GASH to mix up some drinks and a less than professional conversation. Would you expect anything less? This week Sunshine is pleased that the LAPD gives the boy scouts of America the old heave ho and we check out the Beach Outpost blog by Brad. And Pumpkin brings some more of her natural remedies. Thats just a small taste of whats in store on this podcast. Be sure to mix up a Puckered Parrot and enjoy with us!
Mix up a Puckered Parrot
1 oz Canton Ginger Liquor
1 oz Dark Rum
1 oz Pineapple Juice
2 oz Fresh Grapefruit Juice
1/2 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
1/2 oz Ginger Sour Syrup*
Shake everything and pour into wide mouthed glass filled with crushed ice. Garnish with a grapefruit wheel. (*Ginger Sour Syrup: Boil 1 cup sugar with 1/2 cup water in a saucepan till liquid turns clear. Set aside. To 1/2 cup 151 Rum, add 4 tablespoon fresh shopped ginger, 2 tablespoons fresh grapefruit zest, 1/2 cup fresh grapefruit juice. Let it sit covered overnight. Carefully strain out solids with coffee filter or cheese cloth. Chill. Stores for about 90 days)
