A big mahalo to fan of the show, Stacie. This drink was not only sent in by her but we also dedicate this post to her. Purists can argue whether or not you can modify an original cocktail and still call it by its name. We say yes! Lime juice, orgeat and a mix of rums partner well with Domaine de Canton ginger liquor. While mixing the cocktail for the first time, Sunshine checked with Stacie just to make sure that seven dashes of bitters was correct. She confirmed. And much to our pleasure, it works.
Stacie's My Tai
1 ounce Virgin Islands aged Rum such as Cruzan
1 ounce Domaine de Canton
3/4 ounce Sunshines Very Spicy Rum (SVSR)
1 Teaspoon Cointreau
1 ounce fresh lime juice
3/4 ounce Orgeat (almond syrup)
7 dashes Angostura bitters (to top with)
Toss everything but bitters into your shaker with ice. Shake well and strained into large rocks glass filled with crushed ice. Top with bitters and stir slightly with swizzle or cocktail straw. Garnish with a fresh lime wheel. Sip and enjoy.
