Inspiration for the next cocktail can come from anywhere. On a rather regular Friday, Sunshine Tiki came across a meme that sounded more like a frosty tropical drink vs. a political statement. Thinking "what would Juan Bahama be made of"? took just a few moments and the ingredients started to become obvious. A large banana, Jamaican rum, dark brown sugar and a dash of Chinese spices and chocolate bitters. Yeah, that sounds just about right. We serve very few blended drinks in the Zen Tiki Lounge and we are proud to offer this one. The banana is understated while the chocolate and spices are present but do not linger too long. Refreshing and dependable, the buzz will get ya just where you want to be.
2.5 ounces Jamaican Rum (Appleton is great)
1 Banana peeled, sliced and chilled
1 tablespoon dark brown sugar
1 dash Chinese 5 spice
2-3 dashes chocolate bitters
1.5 cups crushed ice
Combine rum, spice, sugar and bitters in the bottom of the blender. Allow sugar to dissolve in rum. Add banana and ice and blend until smooth and creamy. Garnish with large sprig of mint.
