Bruised Passion

At some point we all experience a brush off or return to sender notice from the very person we are infatuated with.  These "bruised passions" can sometimes sting a little more than one might be prepared for.  The solution is a lovely cocktail such as this.  Lightly sweet but mostly tart, well balanced mint, vanilla and passion flavors take the edge off your touchy emotions.  On the flip side this cocktail is very nice to sip along with your special someone when things are going in the right direction.  A drink for any mood.  Cheers!

2 ounces silver Rum (J Wray, Myers or Plantation 3 Star)

1.5 ounces fresh Passionfruit pulp removed from fruit

1 ounce fresh Lime juice

1/2 ounce Vanilla syrup

5 bruised mint leaves (smash leaves with the back of a spoon)

Combine all ingredients in a shaker with 1/2 cup of crushed ice.  Shake very well to break up the mint and separate the passion fruit suits from the pulp sacks.  Strain into chilled cocktail glass.  Garnish with mint.  If you have shaken correctly you will have bits of mint and passion fruit floating on the top of your cocktail.
