Banana Cream Pie Cocktail

Order a banana cocktail at your local watering hole or bar and you will most likely end up with an overly sweet nightmare.  But not this drink.  The banana flavor is not too strong because no artificial flavors are added.  Just real fruit, cream and a good natural banana flavored rum.  Try your own variations of this drink.  Sautee the banana slices, caramelize the brown sugar, make fresh whipped cream.  Maybe add a little coconut rum as well.  You can substitute coconut half and half for the dairy to keep this drink vegan.  Cheers!

3/4 ounce Banana Rum (Cruzan Banana is best)

3/4 ounce Vanilla Rum (Cruzan Vanilla is best)

1.5 ounces Appleton Estate Rum or another aged Jamaican Rum

.5 ounce Half and Half

1 Heaping Tablespoon freshly mashed banana puree*

1 Teaspoon Dark Brown Sugar

Vanilla Whip Cream for garnish

Combine all in a shaker with 1 cup crushed ice.  Shake till you can't shake no more.  Pour unstrained into a double rocks glass.  Garnish with banana slices, vanilla whip cream and a dusting of dark brown sugar.

*Use very very ripe bananas to mash into a fine puree combined with 1 tablespoon of dark brown sugar per banana.
