Aloha and welcome to the Zen Tiki Lounge. We are the tiki bar that lives in your head. Hopefully your head is perfectly capable of decorating with tikis, plenty of thatch, ample rum and a bit of shenanigans. But if not, listen to this show each week. Sunshine and Starshine are in the lounge this week and behind the mic. Our drink this week was simply inspired by the juice we had in the fridge. So, Tahitian Rum Punch it is. This drink is strong and packs a “punch.” And for this reason we do cut the show a little short this week, but not before we discuss a few great subjects and do some shout outs to some of our lovely tiki friends all over the world. Sunshine and Pumpkin folic in the lounge with a stiff cocktail and plenty of inspiration after a long week at work. The show starts with some shouts to friends and partners in our ever growing tiki community. If you haven’t already checked out the Velveteen Lounge Kitsch-en, you simply must. Hostess with the mostess, Kelly Patterson takes on a video podcast journey back to the days of canned meats, tiki drinks and kitschy pop goodness. Sunshine has been drinking all his beverages from their awesome Moai mug, that he named Richard. Our listener Heather asked us about Summer bar tips and Sunshine has plenty to say about getting your bar ready after a cold and dust collecting winter. Pumpkin is ripe with vegan snack ideas and gives a review of her visit to a food truck festival that had plenty of vegan, vegetarian and green options. Sunshine has been busy building the new bar for the lounge. After a lot of sawing, sanding, painting and fixing the ooopsies, we have a new bar. To christen the newest member of our team we enjoy ample rum and bring all 4 hosts into the Zen Tiki Lounge. Pumpkin is excited to share some upcoming events such as the food truck fair happening in late June and International nude hiking day, also in June. Kalani steps up on her soap box to remind us that the Coca Cola company “allegedly” is responsible for murdering pro union forces in third world countries. Starshine is just along for the ride as usual and keeps the rest of us in check. We also give a big shout out to the Kapu Tiki Lounge in Milwaukee and throw down the towel for the Tiki Oasis room party awards. Sunshine is suggesting that the winners of the room parties “allegedly” are ONLY those who have sponsorships with the organizers or pay extra $$$ for hotel suites. We’re just saying. But perhaps this year will different. Either way, we are all headed to San Diego for this years Tiki Oasis.
